About the event

Courtyard Urbanism aims to increase the abundance of housing with access to private green space in walkable, mixed-use urban neighborhoods. Courtyard Urbanism has the specific goal of making cities more attractive to the families who leave cities in search of the aspirational house with a yard in the suburbs. The nutshell of the courtyard argument:

A) Families require a large house and a yard.

B) Courtyard blocks provide large homes with a private (but shared) yard while maintaining the density needed for walkable, mixed-use urbanism.

C) American cities should build courtyard blocks to retain ordinary families who would otherwise move to the 'burbs for a house with a yard.
